The Music of Kate Wolf as Noted by Spike

Lyrics and chords, if we have them, in downloadable charts, for the most loved songs of Kate Wolf and her friends.

Kate Wolf

Kate Wolf

Kate Wolf wrote about 200 songs. They were all about things we all experience and understand. Her songs are simple, and quite lovely. Kate died of leukemia in 1986, when she was (I believe) 44 years old. Her son, Max, keeps her memory and her music alive.

Please visit the website at www.katewolf.com for some information about her and her songs. There are two song books and several vinyl records available for purchase at small prices.

I remember learning that she had died, when Garrison Keillor, on the Prairie Home Companion, announced, with tears in his voice, that she had died. She had undergone chemotherapy and we hoped she would recover, but that did not happen. What a sadness that was. We are thankful that her songs are still with us.

Nina Gerber - Lead Guitarist for Kate Wolf

Nina Gerber - Lead Guitarist for Kate Wolf
This photo of Nina Gerber was taken at the Kate Wolf Memorial Festival in 2003

Nina is an awesome lead guitarist with wonderful and sensitive techniques. Her fills are tasteful, her accompaniments are perfect foundation, and when she rips out, she is a combination of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Halen, and Jimmy Page. In other words, she is Nina Gerber.
